Join us in-person in our Salem, Oregon dental office for our COVID-compliant Oregon Oral Radiology Certificate Preparation Course. This course is designed for dental assistants, sterilizations technicians, front desk staff, part-time help, and anyone else wishing to become a more valuable dental team member. This four-step course will prepare you for the DANB exam, and those who become radiology certified in Oregon can operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiography procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Students should be working as a dental assistant, sterilization tech, front office staff, or any other applicable position in a dental office in Oregon to become radiology certified in the State of Oregon.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This class is designed for the working professional who wants to add to their skill set. Getting your dental radiology certification in Oregon is as easy as 1-2-3. This course satisfies step 1 in the pathway and will prepare you for step 2 the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) RHS Exam and Step 3 demonstrate proficiency to a licensed dentist or hygienist in Oregon.
Additional literature, assignments and quizzes are used outside the classroom to enhance course materials.
COMMITMENT
Time commitment for this course consists of 30-40 hours didactic and hands on in a high tech private practice office.

Radiation History, Physics, and Biological Effects
Radiography Equipment and Technology Used in Dentistry
Radiographic Techniques, Patient Management, and Radiographic Interpretation
Review from sessions 1-3, Q&A, Clinical and Didactic Radiographic Competency

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: Travis Hunsaker DDS, FAGD
Dr. Travis Hunsaker wanted to be a dentist since he watched his father attend dental school. In 2009 he graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry, and in 2019 Dr. Hunsaker was awarded his credential as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). This award is achieved by only 6% of dentists in the US and Canada. In addition to his memberships in the Oregon Dental Association, Academy of General Dentists, American Dental Association, and the Marion Polk Dental Society, Dr. Hunsaker’s advanced continuing education has allowed him to become a fellow in the International Dental Implant Association, a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and a preferred provider with Invisalign.

None. Experience is not needed in Oregon, anyone can take dental radiographs after they are certified with a radiology certificate with DANB and the Oregon Board of Dentistry.
Yes. Students will be responsible for preparing for the test as well but will have all the resources needed to do well on the exam.
The didactic portion will be offered in person. Classes will be COVID compliant. The instructor will have discussions, exercises and quizzes/tests every week. The clinical portion will be covered in breakout sessions during the session you learn about the principles involved. Students will first learn on dental mannequins before using their skills on patients. More details will be provided during the first class session.
In Oregon after passing this class and passing the DANB RHS you will be able to take radiographs under supervision for 6 months while completing your application to the OBD.

This course is in high demand. Students must drop the course two weeks BEFORE it begins in order to get a refund for the course they have paid for. If they miss the deadline, they will not get a refund and will be responsible to pay for the course even if they didn’t attend.
